Dissertation Title:

Unintended Intentions: Security Script and Performative Enactment

Dissertation Committee:  Michael Loriaux, William Reno, Ian Hurd

Dissertation Description: I examine the unintentionality that characterizes many of the intentions that produce unwanted consequences, and attribute that unintentionality to the ambiguity that characterizes the concept of security. Unintended intentions refers to a paradoxical loop in which intentions induce new intentions unexpectedly in response to unwanted consequences in a potentially infinite vicious circle.
