PROCEDURE

Any of the Department’s undergraduate advisors can help you:

• declare a major or a minor
• plan for study abroad (including sign the relevant paper work)
• petition to graduate
• plan your Political Science major
• think about pursuing honors
  

You can simply turn up at the advisor’s office hours listed below. You do not need an appointment.

You need to meet with the Director of Undergraduate Studies if:

• you need an exception on your graduation form
• to count towards the major credits from study abroad or courses taken at another college or University
• to complete a Certificate of Achievement in a Foreign Language

Once signed, forms should be submitted to Bonnie Gordon, Undergraduate Program Assistant, in Scott Hall, Room 300.

 

PETITIONING TO GRADUATE

Undergraduates should file a petition to graduate one calendar year before anticipated graduation, but not before the third quarter of their third year. Petition forms must be obtained in person from the Registrar's Office (forms not available online), signed by one of the undergraduate advisors and returned to the Registrar's Office. One form is required for each of the student’s majors. A Petition to Graduate is required of all seniors. Students who wish to graduate with a minor must file a similar petition signed by an adviser in the minor department.
