Professor Galvin’s primary areas of research and teaching include the American presidency, political parties, historical institutionalism, and American political development. He is the author of Presidential Party Building: Dwight D. Eisenhower to George W. Bush (Princeton University Press), several journal articles, and is co-editor, with Ian Shapiro and Stephen Skowronek, of Rethinking Political Institutions: The Art of the State (NYU Press, 2006). Galvin has been awarded fellowships from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Miller Center of Public Affairs, the Center for the Study of the Presidency, the Harry Middleton Fellowship in Presidential Studies, Yale University and Northwestern's Weinberg College.
