Department Awards

Each year, the Department of Political Science recognizes the achievments of its graduate students with two awards, the David Minar Prize and the R. Barry Farrell Prize for Teaching Excellence.

Awarded in memory of former department chair, David W. Minar, this prize honors outstanding advanced graduate students in Political Science. Judged annually by the department's faculty, the winners for the 2007-08 academic year were Larkin Terrie and Douglas Thompson. Information on past winners can be found below.

The R. Barry Farrell Prize for Teaching Excellence is awarded in recognition of exceptional contributions in the classroom by the department's teaching assistants. The winners are determined through a combination of faculty and undergraduate student evaluations. In the 2007-08 academic year, the prize was awarded to three teaching assistants: Jesse Dillon Savage, Marissa Brookes and Carlos Freytes Frey. Information on past winners can be found below.
